Excursion: Convict Footprints

In conjunction with our Semester One History unit of work ‘The Australian Colonies’, we went on an excursion to Dharug National Park and participating in a guided walk on the Old Great North Road. Students were able to step back in time to 1830 and meet actors dressed as convicts, soldiers and local Aboriginal people. They demonstrated how they built the road, difficulties in managing convicts and the impacts on native land. It was a terrific excursion.
